About the Author

Peter was born in London, England. His family immigrated to Australia in the seventies when he was a teenager. He enjoyed Australia's freedom and opportunities to pursue thrill-seeking adventures and achieve life goals. From parachuting to stuntman, apprentice to company director, city dweller to farmer. Living on a small property in Gippsland, Victoria, nestled in a river valley surrounded by the beauty of nature with his wife, Lyn and their border collie, Skye. For many years Peter has been intrigued by human behaviour and the workings of the mind. He has researched psychology, philosophy, ancient writings and spiritual teachings. His fascination turned into a quest that revealed profound life-changing truths. Writing "No Thing" and following the guidance has led to his awakening—living a life of peace and contentment, far from a previously known existence. He wanted to share his discovery that an awakened mind is available to anyone. Reading ‘No Thing’ reminded me of the stoic term Memento Mori, we can leave this Earth at any time so always be mindful.

Also, I was reminded of the words of Marcus Aurelius that ego is the enemy and letting ego control us can lead to bad outcomes. I was also reminded that religion and spirituality are two totally different concepts, it is possible to be spiritual without being religious, and religion has caused far too much pain to man throughout history. Where a spiritual outlook can lead to personal growth, when reading Peter’s thoughts on spirituality I was reminded of the works of Carl Sagen.

When Peter talks about nature and the importance of stopping to 'smell the flowers', I was reminded of a conversation I had with a First Nations lady on a beach at Portland. We had been whale watching, and we were talking to this beautiful soul about the whales, she related a story about a terrible incident where a family of First Nations people had been murdered on the very beach, we were standing on over a century ago, she was paying her respects. But she also talked about how 'country' heals the soul and that it is important to be on country to heal. Nature is good for the soul and creates inner peace.

Peter Wright has written a thoughtful book that is full of wisdom from the ages. It is a book that will encourage the reader to further explore what it means to live a good life; I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to start the journey of self-improvement and find inner peace.

I was fortunate enough to read this book, at first, I thought it would be just another spiritual book. However, once I started to read and understand the three parts it all made sense to me. We think all our minds work differently but in essence, our minds work the same way, it is just the way we use it. With this book, we get to put things into retrospective and breathe before we react.
